Your log stays on your phone
Section titled “Your log stays on your phone”Orphie has no account, sign-in, or Orphie server. Your records live in a local database on your phone. Orphie does not connect to your gig accounts or ask for their passwords.
Selected gig-app names are shift labels. They are not connections to those services.
Local storage does not mean every feature is offline. Native maps, optional city lookup, and destinations you choose when sharing files are separate services.
When location is recorded
Section titled “When location is recorded”You choose when to start a shift. Pause turns location off and records no route or miles until you resume.
After End shift from recording, location can continue for up to 10 minutes or until you have been parked for 2 continuous minutes, whichever comes first. End from Pause keeps location off. Save shift turns location off and discards the temporary stretch after End.

City names are optional
Section titled “City names are optional”Settings › City names in descriptions is off by default.
When you turn it on, Orphie sends the shift’s start and end coordinates to Apple on iPhone, or Google on Android, after you end the shift. It looks up each endpoint once to add city and state names to the draft description.
The lookup does not send intermediate stops or the whole route. If it fails or cannot run offline, the draft still uses your apps and stop count. You can edit the description yourself.
Turning the setting off does not remove city names from descriptions you already saved.
Maps use the phone’s native services
Section titled “Maps use the phone’s native services”Route maps use Apple MapKit on iPhone and Google Maps on Android. Turning city names off does not disable those map services. No Orphie server does not mean no network use.
Share records yourself
Section titled “Share records yourself”You choose a destination when you export records. Taxes shares a PDF and CSV together. Settings shares an all-years ZIP.
Orphie has no app-managed cloud backup, restore, or device sync. Android allows OS-managed backup, which is separate from an Orphie backup feature. Do not rely on an exported file as something you can restore into Orphie.
Delete all data
Section titled “Delete all data”Export any records you need before deleting. There is no Orphie restore flow.
- Finish and save any open shift.
- Open Settings › Delete all data.
- Read both confirmation dialogs. The final action is Delete everything.
Deletion is available only when there is no open shift and recorder recovery has finished. An export or deletion already in progress also blocks it.
The action removes local shifts, routes, stationary intervals, corrections, vehicles, odometer readings, and configured apps. It clears local export files and preferences, restores the default app list, and returns to first-run setup. Language, theme, and city-name preferences reset too.
Files you saved in your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive are not touched. That does not mean Orphie has a cloud-backup feature.
If a wipe or settings reset fails, Orphie reports the failure. A partial-reset warning can mean some data was already deleted.
