Example estimate: logged business miles × the IRS standard mileage rate for that date. A deduction lowers taxable income; it isn't cash, a refund, or tax saved. Eligibility rules apply, including the rules for choosing the standard rate. Commuting isn't deductible. Read the mileage log guide.

Amazon Flex, Uber, DoorDash, and five more are ready to pick. Showing homes, seeing clients, or running your own business? Add it once in Settings › Apps, and it's on your list every time you get ready to drive.

They're labels, not connections. Orphie never signs in to these apps, and one shift can carry several.

Start the shift. Leave with a record.

You start and pause logging yourself. Orphie logs the miles you choose to log; it doesn't decide which miles qualify or classify commuting.

  1. StartPick your car and the apps you're driving for, then tap Start before you drive. Orphie logs your miles while you work. Nothing starts by itself.
  2. Pause when neededTaking a personal detour? Tap Pause. Location turns off, so no miles or route are recorded until Resume. The map leaves a gap, not a connecting line.
  3. EndTap End when work is over. If you were driving, location keeps running quietly for up to ten minutes, or until you've been parked two minutes. Resume within that window keeps the extra stretch.
  4. SaveCheck the route, stops, and description, then tap Save. Your log keeps the snapshot from the moment you tapped End and drops the extra stretch recorded afterward.

  • Your route and detected stopsA start ring, an end dot, and stop dots. Stops have no names; you can review and change the count.

  • Apps, description, and an optional noteChoose app labels. Review the automatically drafted description and edit it to explain the work.
  • Your vehicle detailsEnter the car's placed-in-service date and odometer readings yourself. Orphie doesn't record those as you drive.

Need to correct a GPS shift's miles? Add a reason. The shift is marked “Miles corrected,” with the original GPS miles and correction history kept. You can also delete shifts.

Orphie doesn't start automatically or decide when you're working. Choose the miles you log with Start and Pause, then review the shift before you save it.

No account to connect.

Open Orphie without creating an account or signing in. Your gig accounts stay separate. App labels describe the work you did; they don't connect to a platform.

Find your shifts together.

Your log stays on your phone, with a business-mile total and shift count for the year. Filter by tax year, app, or vehicle when you need to review it.

Export for your tax preparer. The Taxes tab shares a PDF and a CSV of your year, and Settings exports every record. Backup isn't available yet, so keep a copy of your exports.

Orphie has no server. Your phone's map service—Apple Maps on iPhone, Google Maps on Android—draws the route map. If you turn on City names in descriptions, Orphie also sends the shift's start and end location to Apple or Google once after you end the shift, to add the cities.

What if I forget to start?

You can add a shift by hand. It stays permanently marked “Added by hand” and has no route. Orphie can't recover a drive it didn't record.

Can I drive for several apps?

Yes. Select several app labels for a shift. Orphie keeps one mileage total for that shift; it can't tell which miles were for which app.

Can I use it for real estate or my own business?

Yes. Add the work in Settings › Apps, for example "Open house showings," and pick it before you tap Start. Orphie logs those miles the same way. Whether they're deductible depends on how you work; the mileage log guide covers the rules for self-employed driving.

What if I tap End too early?

If you tap End while driving, location keeps running quietly for up to ten minutes, or until the car has been parked two minutes. Resume within that window keeps the extra stretch. Save keeps the End-time snapshot and drops the extra stretch. Later driving outside the window isn't recovered.

Does Orphie connect to my gig accounts?

No. It never asks for your gig logins or connects to their accounts. You choose the app labels yourself. Orphie doesn't detect which platform you're using.

Where is my log kept? Can I export it?

Your records stay on your phone, with no account or sign-in. You can export them: the Taxes tab shares a PDF and a CSV for your tax preparer, and Settings › Export all data saves every record. Backup isn't available yet, so keep your exports somewhere safe.

Which languages does Orphie support?

English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Orphie starts in your phone's language, and you can change it when you set up or in Settings.
