Orphie is not released yet. This note describes what is built in the app, not a release announcement. Store links come at launch.

Logging you start yourself

Choose a vehicle and the apps you drive for, then tap Start shift. Orphie logs miles in the background and shows shift time and an estimated deduction. Pause turns location off and leaves a gap in the route. Resume starts a new recorded segment.

Tap End shift, review the route, stop count, and description, then Save shift. After End from recording, location can continue until the first of ten minutes or two continuous parked minutes. Save discards that provisional stretch and keeps the End-time record. End from Pause leaves location off.

Your saved shifts in the Log

Search, sort, and filter saved shifts. Review routes, apps, vehicles, descriptions, and notes. Add a missed shift by hand; it stays marked “Added by hand” and has no GPS route. Correcting GPS miles requires a reason and preserves the original GPS miles. Saved edits have a correction history.

Taxes and exports

The Taxes tab shows annual business miles, an estimated standard mileage amount, and vehicle summaries. It shares a PDF and CSV together for your tax preparer. The PDF includes selected Schedule C vehicle values, not a completed tax return. Orphie does not decide which miles qualify or file your taxes.

By-app totals overlap when a shift has several app labels. Orphie cannot split a shift’s miles by app. A deduction estimate lowers taxable income; it is not cash, a refund, or tax saved. Eligibility matters. Ask a tax professional about your own return.

Settings also exports all years of records in a ZIP, including routes, notes, and correction histories. These exports are not an app-managed backup. Backup and restore are not built.

Vehicles, odometer readings, and app labels

Add vehicles, enter their in-service dates, and keep dated odometer readings. Corrections preserve reading history. You enter these details yourself.

Choose several app labels for a shift or add your own names in Settings. Orphie does not connect to gig accounts or detect app switches. Custom names are available on both platforms; the custom-app category picker is on iPhone only.

Languages and appearance

Choose English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, or Traditional Chinese during setup or in Settings. Change the app language without changing your phone’s language.

Appearance offers Original, Original on warm paper, Calm, warm, and Calm, modern. Light and dark appearance follow the phone’s setting.

Optional city names

City names in descriptions is off by default. When you turn it on, Orphie sends the shift’s start and end location to Apple on iPhone or Google on Android after End to look up city and state names. It does not look up individual stop names. Native map services also draw the route map.

First-run setup

Onboarding introduces the app, lets you choose a language and apps, and guides vehicle setup and permissions. There is no account or sign-in. Your log is stored on your phone.
